The drive back to Escazú from La Fortuna crosses 2 mountain ranges. Lots of frighteningly sharp curves with no shoulder and a steep drop off the side of the mountain. And in the parking lot of the museum: leaf cutter ants! this small line of ants carrying little chunks of leaf easily stretched for 30 feet or more. They pick a plant, a few ants stay there and start cutting up the leaves and pilling them up, and the rest of the ants spend all day carrying them back to their nest. amazing!
The parade went on for over two hours, it was visually exhausting but incredible.
The Boyero festival was today! Hundred of oxcarts stream into San Antonio to be blessed by our Catholic priest. Their arrival is announced by a rather large brass band, all stuffed into the back of a flatbed truck.
